          Division Marketing Statement The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry.           Primary Purpose Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. Under general direction, develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. May provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity. May be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output.
          Principal Duties and Responsibilities Electrical engineer with experience leading design teams in the implementation of utility monitoring, protection and control, and SCADA system upgrades for Smart Grid projects.
          Experience required with the application, upgrade, and testing of monitoring, protection and control schemes. Candidate must be knowledgeable in transmission line, transformer and distribution protection and control.
          Experience required in electric utility substation integration/automation (SCADA) and protection system upgrade, design, documentation, installation and testing. This includes conceptual and detailed design including schematics, wiring, point lists, settings, and utility standard documentation. Experience required in retrofitting electro-mechanical relays with microprocessor based relays, Ethernet networking, serial communications, multi-drop communications, and programming of microprocessor based relays and data concentrators. Previous experience working with utilities engineering, operations, and testing departments is considered a plus.
          Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for an assigned portion of major projects.
          Supervises the engineering work of various contractors, as well as assigned Drafters, Technicians and subordinate Engineers. This includes work assignments, scheduling and review.
          Develops alternate methods, techniques or design concepts as required to resolve unique design problems.
          Coordinates directly with project managers and client personnel to review schedule, process, designs, construction issues, and resolve areas of concern.
          Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements
          Minimum of 8 years of experience performing substation automation and protection and control engineering and supervisor related duties.
          The applicant must have the ability to work in a team environment to meet schedule deadlines and budget targets. Also, attention to detail with good communication, skills both written and verbal, is required.
          EIT or PE preferred.
